Olathe Kansas is the oldest city in Johnson County and is also the Johnson County KS county seat. Olathe is one of the fastest growing cities in Kansas and is currently the fifth largest city. Olathe's population is projected to hit 120,000 by 2010. In 2006 Olathe KS was ranked 13th by CNN/Money Magazine Best places to live in the United States.
Olathe was established in the late 1850's and it's name Olathe comes from the Shawnee Indian word "beautiful". Olathe was also a crossroad where the Oregon, Sante Fe & California trails merged.
Today Olathe's crossroads are about 20 miles South West of Downtown Kansas city. Olathe is proud to call companies like Garmin, Honeywell & Farmers Insurance home.
